Migratr 1.06 – Zenfolio fix and general cleanup
This is a bugfix release. Those of you who were trying to migrate to/from Zenfolio should have no problems now:)
Also did a little cleanup and removed some obsolete import/export options:
-AOL Pictures: Site no longer exists
-Faces.com: Site (the one I built support for) no longer exists, and has been replaced with a social network.
-”Phanfare 2″: There were previously two versions of Phanfare set up for migration from within Migratr. This is because Phanfare went through some pretty drastic changes, and for a time was really two different services- The old one and the new one (designated as “Phanfare” and “Phanfare 2″). They were kind enough to leave the old version of the site up for several months in order to give users time to debate whether to convert over to an account on the new Phanfare (managed internally by them) or to determine that the new vision for the site wasn’t for them and migrate elsewhere (which is where Migratr came into play). The transition is complete, and there’s no longer a reason to keep the API for the “Old” Phanfare in Migratr. So it’s been removed, and to clear things up, “Phanfare 2″ (the New Phanfare) has been renamed simply to “Phanfare”, as there’s only one version up anymore.
As mentioned in a previous post, I’ll be digging into Gallery 2.3 issues as time permits. My earlier statement that “It’s stopped working completely” turns out to be wrong- It works for me, which is really frustrating- I can’t duplicate the issues others are experiencing. Those of you who have emailed me about Gallery support- I might be hitting you up for beta testing in the coming weeks:)

I was wondering if you migtht ever incorporate http://www.imageevent.com into your program?
I recently switched to Zenfolio but I have thousands of shots @ Imageevent that I need to bring over. Doing so one at a time might be a little tedious.
Is it a possiblity?

Gila- Unfortunately it doesn’t look like imageevent.com has an API, so there’s no way for me to add Migratr support. Most sites like this have some sort of bulk download option, or you might be able to buy a DVD with your photos from them (SmugMug offers this for around $10, I think. Don’t know about ImageEvent, though.) From there you can either use Migratr or another bulk uploader like PictureSync or Zenfolio’s own built-in uploader- It might mean having to do the organizing into albums and captioning all over again, but it still beats bulk downloading / uploading.
Two things:
1. Migratr transfered only part of my photos from Flickr to SmugMug.
2. Could you please clean and protect Migratr forums from spam?

I was having the same problem that Ludwik was having – it only download a very small portion of my flickr photos. Do you have any idea why this is the case?
Could it be because I no longer have a flickr pro account and have reached my limit?
The spam thing is, unfortunately, an ongoing battle:P
To answer both of you- Flickr only gives access to your most recent 200 photos if it’s a non-pro account, so if you’re only seeing 200 photos or so downloaded, that’d be why. If you do have a Pro flickr account, email me and I can investigate further.
Downloaded Migratr to move my pix from smugmug to zenfolio, but it is not working. During the step “Import” when I click on button, it immediately says finished, even though it does not import a single photo. I signed up for a free 14 days service with zenfolio to try and kind of upset i can’t really try it
I am trying to move files from phanfare to zenfolio and when I hit the import button the program crashes. Any ideas?

I recently decided to use the Zenfolio site to showcase my photos. I was pleased to see there was a migration tool that works with flickr, as I’ve got almost 5,000 photos on my flickr stream. However, I can’t find a Mac-compatible migratr download?
Did you create one or can you make one available for download please? I’d like to know if any such a program exists before manually uploading all my files to Zenfolio the hard way.

Please support Linux also. You should be able to do that with your Java skills ;-)
Why for the “import from” Flickr does it need:
* Access your Flickr account (including private content)
* Upload, Edit, and Replace photos and videos in your account
* Interact with other members’ photos and videos (comment, add notes, favorite)
I would think it only needs access to my account… not access to upload/edit and replace… or interact with other member’s content…
I would love to use this software, but I don’t want to allow full access when it only needs to read… this scares me… Can you address this in the next release please?
Yah.. what I don’t have a clue about is why there isn’t a mac version of softwares like this. I would pay good money for such. It would save hours of uploading
Thank you for releasing such a useful app. I’m trying to migrate photos from Flickr to Picasa, but the Picasa authentication doesn’t seem to be working. When I submit my authentication login info, my browser never takes me to an allow access dialogue. The authentication for Flickr worked fine. Not sure if its just me, my computer, the app, or Picasa.
Running Windows 7. Didn’t work on my other Windows 7 computer either. Don’t have any XP boxes to try it on.
I am also looking for a Mac version of your Migratr software. I’ve not been pleased with Flickr’s recent changes to their photo printing service and am looking to migrate my nearly 2,000 photos, probably to picasa.
When will a Mac Migratr be available?
Forgive me if I don’t know how the API back-end works. It sounds like your tool is great, but but there any way to migrate photos between services without having to download and re-upload them? It seems like the available tools all require at least one end user upload. Can the sites be made to talk to each other without ever having to go through my SLOW DSL connection?
I am having a problem on Windows 7 as well. Everythign works fine, even authenticating to Picasa, btu when I go to do the export the application crashes after uploading one or two pictures to Picasa every time.
Two things…. the download link points to version 1.0.5
…and it does not work with Gallery2 at all, on my installation. It crashes after authentication 100% of the time.
I am trying to use 1.05. However step three is bringing me to files on my computer to download not flickr. is there a fix for this?
DISREGARD….. The software was asking me to create a folder in which to put the downloaded photos! duh…. so far so good…

I’ve just joined zenfolios, and went to the migrator page link, and clicked on “download” and downloaded it. It doesn’t work. It opens in TextEdit as a huge page of gobbledegook. This isn’t what I was expecting.

Trying to download this app onto a MAC but it doesn’t recognise the file extensions. Does this just not work on a MAC ??

Currently it is downloading all of my Picasa photos, but I don’t see it using folders. Is it going to transfers just the photos straight? What about albums, notes, captions?

Uploading albums to Picasa failed for me.
But after trying a few things I “solved” the problem.
It failed because I was behind a proxy server, I just tried from another internet connection without a proxy and it worked like a charm!
Now I can proceed uploading my 5000 photos exported from flickr to picasa ;o)

Are there any hard limits on the number of images that can be transferred? When importing from Flickr, the import stopped at the rather even number of 1500 and reported finished even though the progressbar showed only about 25% done, which would roughly be more in line with the total images I actually have on Flickr (6100+)
I have the same problem as FatherStorm above.
I have 3500 images on flickr and it stops and reports “finished downloading” and it hasn’t even downloadet half the pics. There seems to be a timeout issue.
Any solutions?

If you use 64bit OS try to change installation folder (avoid the Program Files (x86)).
For example try C:/Migratr. I had the same problem and i solved it in that way.
Does this software work on a Mac? I’m trying to download it but I don’t recognize the file format (.msi). Can anyone please tell me how to complete the download? Thanks!
Hello, i download 2600 photos from flickr, and when i go to the step to upload to picasa, the software crash. I tried this in XP and Windows 7

I havetryed all the fixs on the forum and nothing is working. i log into phanfare and authenticate then hit import and choose a folder. one i hit enter it closes the program. i have tried not to be behind a proxy and instaling the program in c drive neither worked and am running windows 7

Short notice with no knowledge of how. ;o) But I tested your app on Picassa and it rocked so I thought I would ask.
Several problems importing from flickr:
1: Only downloads a low resolution photo max 800px wide… Why would I want to copy that?? No option to download largest possible version. Nobody else complains about this, so I assume they haven’t noticed.
2: Often quits saying “all photos imported” or something like that, but only a fraction of photos were downloaded.
Oh wait… Seems some of my really old uploads were a bit lowres :) Strike problem no. 1!
Another thing – couldn’t find v 1.06 anywhere, link is for 1.05?
hmm… First i had to try maybe 15 times to make it download 90% of my flickr photos. Now it crashes after uploading a few photos to picasa… In the time I have spent trying to make it work, I could probably have done the same thing manually… Are there any alternatives?

I downloaded Migratr 1.06 using your link, but it says it is 1.05…
Also, Migratr crashes if my album title contains an ampersand ‘&’ character. Transferring from Flickr to Picasa Web.

Hello and thanks for making this. I just downloaded and installed 1.06 but when I install it is still says 1.05 on top. Was that just ann oversite? I am trying to copy from Smugmug to Zenfolio and every time I put in my username and password, I get “there has been a problem authenticating. Please wait a bit and then try again. I sucussfully logged in to flickr to make sure that it was not a smugmug issue. The claim there is no problem at thier end. Any advice?
So…is this software supported any more? I am getting the same problems as many posted above. Despite repeated attempts and waiting days in between…nothing changes. Still get ““there has been a problem authenticating. Please wait a bit and then try again”, to no avail. I’m switching from Smugmug to Zenfolio.

When I download the window says 1.05. And it crashes everytime I try to transfer from Phanfare to Zenfolio. Tried it on 2 different PCs, both running Windows 7.

I am having trouble trying to transfer from Smugmug to Zenfolio. I start at Step 1 to try and Authenticate my Smugmug account, but everytime I get a message that says “There’s been a problem Authenticating. Please wait a bit and try again” I am 100% sure I am entering the correct Login information. Please help as I have quite a number of photos that I would like to transfer. Thanks.

I have to tell you…this software SAVES a ton of time! I did a migrate from Smugmug to Zenfolio…flowless. :) Kept my galleries too.
